Hi, I'm Julie, For the past 25 years I have worked in the field of social work, my specialism being community care & welfare rights in asylum seeker & refugee communities. As a practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism I try to be focused in my work & my life, additionally I am active in in the protection of Human Rights. In 2008, I qualified as an ESOL teacher and in March 2010 I spent 6 months in Dharamsala India teaching English language in the Tibetan community. Following a number of deeply spiritual experiences, I was offered the opportunity to further my study of Tibetan Buddhism with a Geshe at Namgyal Monastery home to HH. The Dalai Lama. On returning to the UK recently my aim has been to raise an awareness of the Tibetan plight in Chinese occupied Tibet and to create a platform where all Tibetans can have a voice that will be heard around the world and where better than the internet? So who are the Tibetans? The Tibetans are a community of people who once had their own country, religion, traditions & language. Tibetan life was peaceful, simple & family orientated. Community was strong and material wealth unimportant. Nomads would decend into the villiage with cheese, milk and butter taken from their yak herds to exchange for sampa and animal skins. Families could often be seen together playing traditional Tibetan music on traditional musical instruments, sharing stories of long ago. Tibetan life changed when China invaded in 1959 taking control of Tibet and forcing many Tibetans to flee in fear of their lives. Many Tibetans, including His Holiness The Dalai Lama fled in exile to Dharamsala India. At just 15 years of age His Holiness became the proactive leader of the Tibetan people taking full responsibility for their safety and for his country. For those choosing to remain in Tibet, many were executed, monks & nuns tortured and forced to commit degrading sexual acts with each other. Tibetan language was abolished and Chinese became the only permitted language. Temples and monasteries were burned to the ground and any evidence of HH was destroyed. Living and working in the Tibetan community has brought me into contact with these amazing people, leaves one wondering where the world one gathers such strength

This blog shows real photos of real events that still happen today at the hands of the Chinese regime and it has to stop! World leaders all know whats happening in China but none are willing to see or hear, why? money.
